Odd Girl Out

http:www.barnesnoble.com

My BF told me about this book and I have to say it was a very good book.
This author spoke with over 200 girls, recorded heartbreaking acts of hostile aggression between girls. This book hits the point on how silent treatment, note-passing, staring, gossiping, ganging up, and how girls want to be the fashion police, and then want to be nice in private and be so sos so mean in public. She decodes the stock of words and these sneaky assaults. It was a great read and I am suggesting it for anyone who has a daughter, niece, family member or friend that has a daughter. You will even go back and examine your school age years wheather you were the picker or the picked on one. I have spoken about this book to my some of my friends and posted it on my status on Facebook.

Halloween

I'm so excited the kids are talking about what they want to be for Halloween. I really take delight in watching the kids choose a costume and watching them get the house ready with decor. The whole bit makes me smile although I don't allow my kids to eat all the candy that is collected they still enjoy the door to door knocking.
My nine year old Princess is going back and fourth and I can see it now that she is out of the little princess dress-up theme. That's OK with me but I wonder just what changes their little minds from Fairy Tales and Dragon Tales to wanting the bigger kid costumes. My little Prince well he's stuck on being a superhero. That's right mover over Diego YYY oh Y!!!!
So since he wants to be a superhero and I want to still see a little boy we are meeting on mutual grounds lol. Yes, I am working deals with a 5 year old.
I mentioned to him that he could have 2 costumes he can go ahead and be that superhero that saves the world on Halloween n then be a box of POP CORN for the town parade. He was floored and it made me laugh. So how's that for team work? Now if I can just get my Princess to be a box of candy we can have a tasty treat for the theater. Hmmmm do you think bribery will work lol ????

Another School Year

That's correct another new school year begins. The last of my children has left off to start on a new adventure into Kindergarten. He's loving every bit of it but he doesn't even have a clue as to how much I miss him. I'm cheering him on but I'm secretly hurting inside because he's no longer part of my whole day. I am no longer the one who is teaching him and I'm no longer the one who he needs to speak with during the day. His teacher plays that roll now and it's breaking me into pieces.

This little prince of mine comes down from the steps of the yellow school bus so independent yet still runs to give me a big hug and kiss. I feel his little hand in mine as we walk to our van and I stop and tell myself can I just hold this moment. Will he always know I'm his biggest fan????

Like I said earlier he loves school and looks forward to his bus ride each morning. So I will continue to send him off and wave at him as he sits with his friends and rides the big yellow bus.
